This four-week course offers a profound personal experience, designed to build a firm foundation of inner discipline and provide the proficiency to teach yoga to others.The essence of yoga is learned through a combination of repeated practices and inspirational lessons. The approach to teaching is personal, focusing on the individual student. The focus of our 200 hour training is to provide students with the knowledge and experience of various aspects of yoga, including yogic philosophy, hatha yoga, study of the scriptures (Bhagavad Gita) as well as anatomy. This foundation will serve as a powerful base from which to teach others through a practice that inspires, heals and transforms.
This training is appropriate for the serious student who would like to start teaching yoga, as well as the student who would like to deepen their own knowledge and personal practice. More than a professional training, it is a life transforming experience. This training course fulfils the requirements for the Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification, for which graduates of the program are invited to register.
The goal of this training program is to produce qualified and inspiring yoga teachers who are able to draw on their own practice and personal discipline in imparting the yoga experience to others. The curriculum is based on the five points of yoga as taught by Swami Vishnudevananda, which can be understood as the practical application of the traditional four paths of yoga (Karma, Bhakti, Raja, and Jnana).
A daily teaching practice class is devoted to teaching you how to teach asanas and pranayama. A
daily asana practice class gives you the opportunity to practice your own asanas and will help to
build the good habit of practice.
The daily in-depth practice with individual corrections comprises:
In the second half of the training course, participants will teach each other under the guidance of an experienced instructor.
A high degree of self-motivation is required for all aspects of the course.
A minimum of one year of a consistent practice with a basic knowledge of yoga postures and philosophy is helpful but not essential.
A sincere desire to learn and openness to the teachings of yoga is required.
The practice and especially the teaching of yoga demand a high degree of self-discipline and purity.
To ensure the success of the programme, participants are required to attend all spiritual activities, meditation sessions, lectures and asana classes.
Assessment and Certification
The students are continuously assessed throughout the course at all levels.
There will be a written exam at the end of the course to evaluate the understanding of thephilosophy of Yoga and skills of the students.
Participant should pass all different aspects of the course to be eligible for the course diploma.
Assessment is based on:
1. Regular attendance of all classes
2. Attitude and behaviour inside and outside of the ashram while attending the course
3. Performance and attitude in the practical asana, pranayama, bandhas and kriya classes
4. Hatha yoga teaching skills
5. Written daily summary of the main philosophy classes and hatha yoga theory classes
6. Written examination of 3.5 hrs on the theories of Yoga and Vedanta philosophy.
Upon successful completion of the course students receive an internationally recognized diploma.This training course fulfils the requirements for the Yoga Alliance 200-hour certification,for which graduates of the program are invited to register.

We teach a traditional, exact, and easy-to-learn system that aims to create a healthy body and mind that leads to spiritual evolution. We practice classical hatha yoga. A typical Sivananda asana class includes a sequence of 12 basic asanas that are considered to be the most important asanas to practice daily. Our classes are taught in the traditional style of entering and exiting a pose slowly and mindfully with concentration and focus on breathing. All classes start with pranayama breathing exercises, and continue with a warm-up of sun salutations and brief relaxations between asanas. We offer open classes and beginner and intermediate courses to suit a variety levels, and more advanced courses as the student moves into a greater depth of practice.

Yes. There are no prerequisites for the Teacher Training; yoga is for everyone and everyone can begin where they are.
Sivananda Yoga is not a vinyasa-style yoga practice, although the Sun Salutation is a foundational warm-up in our classes.
By the end of the Teacher Training Course (TTC), you will be able to teach a 2-hour Sivananda Yoga class that includes warm-ups, postures, breathing, and relaxation to beginners and more experienced yoga practitioners as well as special classes for children, elderly, and pregnant women. Yes. Upon successful completion of the course students are certified and receive a certificate as a Yoga Siromani (Teacher of Yoga).

The Teacher Training Course is a well-established immersion training, offering you an unparalleled classical yoga education and connection to an international yoga lineage. During the teacher training you will live as a part of the traditional “Gurukula” system, in which a student lives and learns with a teacher and other spiritual aspirants in an immersive yogic environment. Your curriculum will include study of hatha yoga, asanas, pranayama, meditation, Bhagavad Gita study, study of Vedanta or yoga philosophy, anatomy and physiology, and study and practice of how to teach.

It is not necessary to be a practitioner or have any previous experience of yoga to enroll in this training. However it is essential that you be in good mental, emotional and physical health due to the rigorous nature of the schedule and activity.
